EPS (English Peace Study Group) Homecoming Day – Friday 28th April 2006

EPS Homecoming Day was a great success with participants from Korea, China, Belgium, the US and the UK coming together to discuss peace issues, and also to have a good time.

Following a brief introduction of CNPK by representative Chung Wook-sik, Intern Liesbeth Leplae gave an overview of the history of EPS and explained to newcomers exactly what EPS consists of.

EPS is a relaxed English discussion group for anyone with an interest in Korea-related current affairs and peace.  There is no particular level of English required to partake and you do not need to be an expert on international affairs.  EPS is about sharing ideas!  As well as being a discussion group, EPS is a social event, we often go for drinks afterwards providing an opportunity to make new friends.

The general structure of EPS is that of a presentation on a particular issue by one of the CNPK interns followed by open discussion.  However in the past, experts in the field have also been invited to take part in discussions or open interviews.  We also plan to make EPS more diverse in the future with activities such as watching peace related movies.  A visit to Seodaemun Prison is also being planned.

Following some discussion in the CNPK office we all went for some drinks and food together.^^

From now onwards EPS will be held bi-weekly on Fridays from 7.30pm.

Next meeting:  Friday 2nd June 7.30pm  CNPK office.
Topic to be announced. (suggestions always welcome)

New and old members always welcome.  Please feel free to join our discussion group!
